Each year the Oroville Salmon Festival celebrates the return of the salmon to the Feather River. This family-friendly event always takes place on the fourth Saturday in September. In 2022 the festival will be held on Saturday, September 24. You can scroll down to see what events you can expect in the 2022 Salmon Festival.

Friday, September 24
Salmon Soirée Hosted By The Friends of the Feather River Nature Center
Located at Centennial Plaza on the Levee behind the Oroville Convention Center
6:30 to 9:30 pm
The Friends of the Feather River Nature Center will be hosting their Friday Night Salmon Soirée outdoors at the beautiful Centennial Plaza. Attendees will enjoy small plates of hors d'oeuvres paired with beer and wine, live music and dancing. A raffle will take place during the event with some amazing prizes to win. Smoked salmon will also be available for purchase at the event.

Tickets will cost $25 per attendee and includes a small plate of hors d'oeuvres and one drink ticket. Additional beer and wine will be available for purchase.

To purchase tickets online, Click Here. Tickets will also be available at the Oroville Chamber Office, Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm, and at the Feather River Nature Center on Saturdays between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm.

Saturday, September 25
Oroville Convention Center Activities Including Pancake Breakfast
Oroville Convention Center, 1200 Myers St.
Pancake Breakfast Starts at 7:30 am, all other activities start at 10:00 am
The Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce will be serving a pancake breakfast starting at 7:30 am. For $6.00 you get pancakes, sausage, eggs and your choice of coffee or juice.

There will be seating available for any food purchased throughout the event and the Convention Center will be a climate controlled environment.

Beer Garden
Outside the Oroville Convention Center, 1200 Myers St.

Next to the Oroville Convention Center there will be a beer garden with beer from Feather Falls Brewing Company and Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.

Kids Activities Area
Oroville Convention Center Parking Lot, 1200 Myers St.
10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Father's House Church of Oroville will be in the parking lot with a variety of kids activities including water activities, inflatables and games.

​Art Fair
Located at Centennial Plaza on the Levee behind the Oroville Convention Center
10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Butte Artists Mural Association is hosting a variety of fun FREE art-related activities for children and adults of all ages - sculptures, face painting, fish toss, and so on! There will be a raffle for 3 wonderful 70$ value prizes which you can enter after completing all of the activities in the plaza. They will also be hosting an auction for a large nature-themed painting to raise money for victims of the Dixie Fire.

Craft Vendors will also be up at Centennial Plaza offering a variety of crafts and homemade items for sale.

Downtown Oroville Street Fair
Oroville Convention Center Parking Lot, 1200 Myers St.
10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Downtown Oroville Business Association will be hosting their annual Street Fair featuring food trucks and vendors.

Vendors include: Joe's Lunch to GO, The Beer Tap Shack, Brock Enterprises/Dippin Dots, Weenies, Keillor's Kandies, Sweet Water Shaved Ice, Ma&Pa Kettle Corn, Z-Soaps, Country Hippie Tie Dye, Happy Hens, Dhillon Farms, Sally Yang Farms, The Good Stuff Bakery, Paparazzi, California Charmer Girl, Mitoma Signs, Harvey's Happy Dogs, C&C Creations, Heartfelt & Handmade Designs, Thrive.

Car Show & Shine
Historic Downtown Oroville along Myers and Huntoon St.
10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Oro Dam Cruisers will be hosting a Show and Shine in the streets of Historic Downtown Oroville. Come down and vote for your favorite car!

Registration is $20 per vehicle. To participate it is first come, first serve on September 25 with registration starting at 7:00 am at the Oroville State Theatre at 1489 Myers St.

Eagle Hall Food For Sale
Eagles Hall, 2010 Montgomery St.
Starts at 11:00 am

The Eagles Aerie #196 will be selling fresh made food outside of their Eagles Hall window.

The menu includes:
Fish & Chips: 2 Beer Battered Cod Fillets, Fries and a Drink for $10.00
Salmon Burger:  Includes Coleslaw, All The Fixins' and A Drink for $8.00

Salmon Festival River Trips
Starts at the Feather River Fish Hatchery and Ends at Riverbend Park.
10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Forebay Aquatic Center will be taking you in kayaks down the Feather River while the salmon swim underneath.

St. Thomas Salmon Sale
Inside the Oroville Convention Center, 1200 Myers St.
10:00 am to 4:00 pm

St. Thomas will be selling smoked salmon during the event.

Feather River Senior Center Food For Sale
Feather River Senior Center, 1335 Myers St.
10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Feather River Senior Center will be selling their famous chicken salad croissant sandwiches and ice cream tacos.

Feather River Fish Hatchery Viewing Window & Salmon Ladder
5 Table Mountain Blvd.
10:00 am to 4:00 pm

The Feather River Fish Hatchery will not be open for tours this year. The viewing window and the salmon ladder along with the surrounding viewing areas will be open to the public.

The fish ladder opens on Monday, September 13.

Parking
The streets will not be closed this year, and there will be no shuttle service.
  • River Bend Park (view map) From Hwy 70, exit onto Montgomery Street and head west approximately 350 yards towards the Feather River. As you enter the park, there is a large archway that reads “Feather River – Catch the Dream”
  • Oroville Convention Center From From Hwy 70, exit onto Montgomery and head east. Once you reach Myers St. take a left and you can follow the road to park next to the auditorium.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Do I have to buy tickets?
The Farmers Market is a free event open to the public. There will be tickets required for both the Friday Night Dinner and the Feather River Float.

Q. What about parking?
There are two convenient parking locations:
  • River Bend Park (view map) From Hwy 70, exit onto Montgomery Street and head west approximately 350 yards towards the Feather River. As you enter the park, there is a large archway that reads “Feather River – Catch the Dream”

Q. What time will the shuttles run?
There will be shuttles this year, but the route is still to be determined.

Q. What about restrooms and ATM access?
There is a public restroom located at the corner of Myers and Robinson Streets.  There will also be portable toilets and an ATM this year, but those locations are still to be determined. 


Q. When will the fish ladder gates open?
The fish ladder gates at the Fish Hatchery open in mid-September, just before the Salmon Festival.
