The Oroville Rotary Club invites you to celebrate Independence Day this July 4th at Fireworks at the Forebay! There are 3 great locations to enjoy the show: The North Thermalito Forebay and Aquatic Center, the Nelson Sports Complex, and the South Thermalito Forebay. There will be plenty of food, crafts for the kids, swimming, and music. You can even rent gear and watch it from the water. Don’t miss it! And don’t forget the fireworks start 30 minutes after sunset.

North Thermalito Forebay & Aquatic Center

Watch the show from the water! Rentals are available or bring your own gear. Picnic tables • Swimming area. Day use fees apply. $8 per Vehicle Day-use Fee (Credit Cards Accepted) Map of Park Grounds » Watch from the Water: Paddle out onto the forebay to view fireworks from the water. Watercraft Rentals: Forebay Aquatic Center equipment rentals are available by reservation only. For reservations visit https://www.forebayaquaticcenter.com/rentals Picnic: There are many sites to choose from. Each site contains a BBQ and one or two picnic tables. Swimming: The two hundred yard sandy swimming beach has men’s and women’s dressing rooms and flush toilets. Lifeguard on duty. The North Forebay is reserved exclusively for sailboats, canoes, and other non-power-driven boats. Alcohol is allowed, but no glass containers are permitted. |
Nelson Sports Complex

Music, food trucks, a beer garden, and free crafts and activities for the kids! ENTRY IS FREE to view the fireworks from the Nelson Sports Complex. FREE ENTRY! There is no entry fee to view the fireworks from the Nelson Sports Complex. Party: The Feather River Recreation & Parks will be hosting a party from 6:30 – 8:30. More info » Interested in being a vendor? Click Here Food: Food trucks will be on site – Urban Outlaw Food Concessions, Sweetwater Shaved Ice, and Baker’s Kettle Corn. Plus a Beer Garden from British Bulldog Brewery. Kids: Crafts and activities will be available for the kids–including a Science Adventure Lab! Music: Courtesy of BOB FM. Swimming: The Nelson Pool will be open from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. There is a $5.00 entry fee per person. We recommend bringing a picnic, cooler, lawn chairs and/or a blanket. |
South Thermalito Forebay
Grand Avenue ½ mile west of 20th Ave
Avoid the crowds, launch your powerboat! There are limited facilities available. Bring plenty of water! Day use fees apply. $8 per Vehicle Day-use Fee (Cash or Check only) Motorized boats are allowed. There is a four-lane boat launch ramp. Note that additional boat launch fees apply. Be sure to bring plenty of water! There is very little shade, and there are limited facilities at this location. |

Q. Do I have to buy tickets?

There is no admission fee to view the fireworks, but be aware that some viewing locations do charge fees of their own.
FREE ENTRY Entrance to The Nelson Sports Complex is free, but they do charge a $5/person swimming fee if you would like to use the pool. DAY-USE FEES APPLY The Thermalito North and South Forebays charge an $8 per vehicle day-use fee. Additional boat launch fees may also apply. |
Q. What is the Thermalito Forebay?

The following Info is from: https://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=948 “The three hundred acre Thermalito Forebay is a day use area. It has planted turf and is regularly watered and mowed. Shade trees from many parts of the world dot the area, including European Sycamore, Olive, Valley Oak, and Zelkova. Ramada’s provide shade for picnic sites. Each site contains a stove and one or two picnic tables. Three large group areas are available by reservation through park headquarters. Drinking water is provided by faucet and drinking fountain. The two hundred yard sandy swimming beach has men’s and women’s dressing rooms and flush toilets. The turf and beach areas of the North Forebay and Loafer Creek are closed to dogs. The North Forebay is reserved exclusively for sailboats, canoes, and other non power driven boats. The area has a disabled accessible fishing pier. The North Forebay has frequent trout plants. The North Forebay also has an en-route campground. This campground is designed for one night stays for self contained vehicles only.” |
Q. What about parking?

For detailed parking information, please refer to the viewing location you will be visiting. Parking at the Nelson Sports Complex is free. The Thermalito North and South Forebay areas charge an $8 per vehicle day-use fee. There are overflow lots at each location, but you should plan to arrive early to ensure you find a spot.

Q. What about restrooms and drinking water access?
|
The Thermalito North Forebay has restroom and drinking water facilities. If you plan on viewing from the South Forebay be sure to bring plenty of water as there are limited facilities at this area. The Nelson Sports Complex has restroom facilities and there will also be food trucks and other vendors on site for the event.

Q. Can I reserve a picnic table?
|
For the 4th of July Fireworks event, all picnic and grill areas will be first-come-first-served so plan on arriving early. No reservations will be accepted for the Ramada Group Picnic sites at the North Forebay.
