The Green Line Tour

The Green Line Tour takes you to several points of interest in the scenic Oroville area. Below you will learn about these points. Stop by the Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce to pick up a physical map of the Green Line Tour, or call them for more information at (530) 538-2542.

Riverbend Park features a stunning arched gateway that invites visitors to the Scenic Feather River. With several playground structures, gazebos, and access to the water it makes the perfect place for a day with the family.

Bedrock Park has easy access to the Feather River for those hot summer months. Inside there is also a skate and bike park for the exercise enthusiasts.

The C.F. Lott Home was built in 1856 by a gold rush pioneer. Come out for a nice picnic and admire the beautifully built gazebo and floral foliage throughout Sank Park that surrounds the home.

The Chinese Temple was built in 1863 to serve the largest community of Chinese north of Sacramento. This temple is still used for active worship today.

Bolt's Antique Tool Museum has a wealth of local information and history. Tools new and old cover every wall of this museum.

Centennial Plaza features a continuous waterfront promenade overlooking the Feather River. The walking path connects to the Brad Freeman Trail.

The Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce is the hub of visitor information for the City of Oroville and the Greater Oroville Area. Stop by anytime Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.

The Ehmann Home is known as the house that olives built. The home was built by Freda Ehmann and her son in 1911 after she had perfected a curing process for ripe olives.

The Historic Oroville State Theatre has been around since 1928 and is home to a Wurlitzer organ. The theatre has a variety of shows and concerts that play throughout the year.

The Pioneer Museum was opened in 1932 by the Native Sons & Daughter of the Golden West. This museum is full of local history information.

The Feather River Nature Center & Native Plant Park sits on the bank of the Feather River below the Bath House. This point of interest is also on the path of the Brad Freeman Trail.

The Feather River Fish Hatchery & Diversion Dam offer an overlook onto the Feather River and in the fall, viewing windows to view the Chinook salmon.

The Oroville Dam offers a breath-taking walk across one of the largest earthen-filled dams in the Untied States.

You can also view the Oroville Dam at the Lake Oroville Visitor Center from their 47 foot tower. The Lake Oroville Visitor Center also offers recreational walks on almost every Saturday of the year.

Brad Freeman/Dan Beebe Trail

The Brad Freeman/Dan Beebe Trail offers a 44.5 mile loop perfect for scenic hiking and biking. Over the weekend Chamber CEO/President, Eric Smith; Communications Coordinator, Amber Marron; and their families walked a small couple mile portion of the trail up to the old train tunnel.

We started off near the Feather River Bath House off of the roundabout on Montgomery Street. The weather was perfect as well as the view of the Feather River Fish Hatchery and the Diversion Pool. Hummingbirds were also in the air and could be seen in the trees along the pathway.

The trail stays very close to the water offering picture-perfect views of the river. Along our walk we came across another group of hikers and a biker as well. This part of the trail was easy enough to take Amber's toddler on, and would be the perfect beginner section for bicyclists.

Our hike ended at the old train tunnel that was used to bring in supplies to build the Oroville Dam. Once through the train tunnel the path continues along the beautiful Feather River. You can see a full map of trails from the Department of Water Resources by Clicking Here.

Saturday Morning Nature Walk to Kelly Ridge Point

Almost every Saturday of the month the Lake Oroville Visitor's Center hosts a guided Saturday Morning Nature Walk that is easy enough for all ages. This week on June 29 the hike will take you to Kelly Ridge Point.

The group meets at the Lake Oroville Visitor Center and leaves for the walk promptly at 8:00 am. The hikes average four miles and the guides recommend you bring water, a snack, and dress for the weather. For this walk the "gradual slope down to the water's edge North of the Visitor Center offering views of the dam, up the North Fork, and beyond the suspension bridge. Then a loop back for fresh discoveries."
