Oroville is rich with history in its many museums. Continue reading to learn a little bit more about each of the museums.

Bolt's Antique Tool Museum contains a collection of over 15,000 tools dating back to the 1820's. Not only will you learn about the evolution of tools throughout the years, but you will also be able to enjoy pictures of earlier times.  
The C.F. Lott Home in Sank Park is a beautiful Victorian Home that captures a part in Oroville History. Check out it to glimpse into a less complicated lifestyle and era.

The Chinese Temple highlights the major ways of life in China. There are five separate buildings in this complex including three active chapels.
The Feather River Nature Center and Native Plant Park is set right off of the scenic Feather River. Included is a historic bath house with nature displays, artifacts, minerals and native plants.

The Pioneer History Museum is full of artifacts from Oroville's early pioneer days. Inside you will find two floors full of displays and artifacts.
The Ehmann Home is knows as "the house that olives built. Learn the story of Freda Ehmann who is considered to be the mother of the local olive industry.

The Butte County Historical Society Museum contains a ton of Oroville History. There is also a research archive available.
The Lake Oroville Visitor Center not only has an amazing viewing tower that looks over Lake Oroville, but also provides some history on Oroville and the Oroville Dam.

Museum Weekend

Explore Butte County is hosting a free Museum Weekend this Saturday and Sunday, February 29 and March 1. In Oroville the museums that are participating are the C.F. Lott Home in Sank Park, Feather River Nature Center & Native Plant Park, Historic Oroville State Theatre, Oroville Chinese Temple, and the Pioneer Museum.

Lake Oroville Visitor Center

The Lake Oroville Visitor Center is one of the most fascinating points of interest in Oroville. They hold several events throughout the year, have a museum, have access to trails, and do many more things.

From their 47 foot high viewing tower you can get a breathtaking view of Lake Oroville and the Oroville Dam. Inside the Lake Oroville Visitor Center is a museum full of information in regards to Oroville's History. Outside you can also see a preserved Eagles Nest (pictured below).
Throughout the year the Lake Oroville Visitor Center hosts a variety of events including a Harvest Fest, Pioneer Days, a Summer Speaker Series, and their weekly Saturday Morning Nature Walks. The Brad Freeman Trail coincides with the Lake Oroville Visitor Center and is a convenient starting point for you next hike.

The Green Line Tour

The Green Line Tour takes you to several points of interest in the scenic Oroville area. Below you will learn about these points. Stop by the Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce to pick up a physical map of the Green Line Tour, or call them for more information at (530) 538-2542.

Riverbend Park features a stunning arched gateway that invites visitors to the Scenic Feather River. With several playground structures, gazebos, and access to the water it makes the perfect place for a day with the family.
Bedrock Park has easy access to the Feather River for those hot summer months. Inside there is also a skate and bike park for the exercise enthusiasts.

The C.F. Lott Home was built in 1856 by a gold rush pioneer. Come out for a nice picnic and admire the beautifully built gazebo and floral foliage throughout Sank Park that surrounds the home.
The Chinese Temple was built in 1863 to serve the largest community of Chinese north of Sacramento. This temple is still used for active worship today.

Bolt's Antique Tool Museum has a wealth of local information and history. Tools new and old cover every wall of this museum.
Centennial Plaza features a continuous waterfront promenade overlooking the Feather River. The walking path connects to the Brad Freeman Trail.

The Oroville Area Chamber of Commerce is the hub of visitor information for the City of Oroville and the Greater Oroville Area. Stop by anytime Monday through Friday between 9:00 am and 3:00 pm.
The Ehmann Home is known as the house that olives built. The home was built by Freda Ehmann and her son in 1911 after she had perfected a curing process for ripe olives.

The Historic Oroville State Theatre has been around since 1928 and is home to a Wurlitzer organ. The theatre has a variety of shows and concerts that play throughout the year.
The Pioneer Museum was opened in 1932 by the Native Sons & Daughter of the Golden West. This museum is full of local history information.

The Feather River Nature Center & Native Plant Park sits on the bank of the Feather River below the Bath House. This point of interest is also on the path of the Brad Freeman Trail.
The Feather River Fish Hatchery & Diversion Dam offer an overlook onto the Feather River and in the fall, viewing windows to view the Chinook salmon.

The Oroville Dam offers a breath-taking walk across one of the largest earthen-filled dams in the Untied States.
You can also view the Oroville Dam at the Lake Oroville Visitor Center from their 47 foot tower. The Lake Oroville Visitor Center also offers recreational walks on almost every Saturday of the year.
