The Feather River Fish Hatchery is a significant part of both Oroville's past and present. The purpose of the fish hatchery is to help raise Chinook salmon and steelhead from the Feather River as well as help in the migration process. It also provides viewing windows (pictured above) that are fascinating for both families and fish lovers.
The Oroville Wildlife Area has written about the history of the Feather River Fish Hatchey from its beginnings in 1924. The Fish Hatchery also plays a key role in the annual Salmon Festival celebration that welcomes the salmon back into the Feather River. The Fish Hatchery is open daily from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm.
